Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw  is delighted to invite you to our first International Staff Week.

This event will take place in the week from 4th till 8th of June 2018.

We would like to invite all our colleagues from students affairs offices and other university support services and teachers to attend it.
The staff training week will offer great opportunities for networking and for sharing knowledge and best practices within and across professional areas.
We can receive 20 participants (15 administrative staff and 5 teachers).
No more than 2 participants per university will be accepted, because we would like to have a diversified international group.

By the beginning of March candidates will be informed about their acceptance and will receive further information via e-mail.
Participants are obliged to cover: travel, accommodation and part of meals expenses.
Whereas we are providing the following for our guests:
– training materials
– coffee breaks
– lunches
– welcoming dinner
– sightseeing of Warsaw, including river cruise
– visit to Warsaw Uprising Museum
– farewell supper

The language of the Staff Week is English.
Our guests will have an opportunity to participate in chosen workshops in the field of: innovation, soft skills, polish language or polish culture (registration for those will take place later via 365 office form).
Additionally, teachers will have a chance to share their knowledge according to their home country didactic methods (minimum 8 hours of teaching per person).
Whereas in the same time administrative staff will participate in job shadowing panels.
Note that we can accept lecturers only from partner institutions, otherwise we would have to hurriedly conclude a bilateral agreement (but probably everyone would rather avoid helter-skelter).

Below You can find our event’s schedule

Lecturers group

Academic Teachers will share their knowledge according to their home country didactic methods during minimum 8 hours of teaching per person carried out through lectures, workshops, small seminars, tutorials etc.
After a positive admission outcome, teachers will be asked to introduce topics of their lectures.

Job shadowing group

Administrative Staff will be divided into groups and visiting different administrative offices simultaneously.
All groups will learn about administrative tasks and topics such as:

  • student services
  • student internships,
  • international mobility,
  • human resources (HR) and staff evaluation,
  • quality assurance (QA) and accreditation,
  • university assessment by students and employees,
  • innovative IT (drones, 3D printers, 3D goggles).

Workshops for both groups:

All participants will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will join one of the following workshops:
1. Polish – short course of language & culture,
2. Cross Culture Communication,
3. 3D Technology Applications (
old name Photo & GIS throughout Warsaw),
4. IT tools

workshop 1. Polish – short course of language & culture During this workshop we will present the achievement of the School of the Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners and we will talk about different methods and approaches to teaching Polish as a foreign language. We will also present a sample courses that can be available for Erasmus students at our school and, most importantly, we will help our participants to learn some basic Survival Polish. Topics: 1. The School, achievements, methods and approaches 2. Survival Polish – culture and language 1/2 and 2/2 3. Polish History and Culture  &  Field trip to the Money Centre at the National Bank of Poland
    workshop 2. Cross Culture Communication This workshop will be divided into two parts: theoretical and practical one. 1. The theoretical part will include: on one hand – examples of translations that contain certain distortions or wrong statements, all because of different semantic and cultural messages that different words and expressions bring; on the other – examples of texts translated with great awareness of cultural differences. During this part participants will learn about the dangers of electronic translations based on specific examples. As a result of this workshop, they will obtain a short translator’s guide – tips and suggestions on how to handle a statement to make it correct and clear in cross-culture communication. 2. The practical part will consist of working in small groups and pairs. Participants will get tasks to translate short texts. As a support they will be able to use dictionaries and an online translator. workshop 3.  3D Technology Applications During these workshops participants will get acquainted with the simplified digitization process of monuments and presentation of the digitized model in VR/AR and 3D Print technology. workshop 4. IT tools 1. Excel in financial analytics Participants will find out how to use Excel with ERP additions to everyday budgeting and financial controlling. They will learn how to prepare data, how effectively use them in Excel. A small introduction to programming in VBA will be done. Participants will write a short program in VBA – everybody who uses EXCEL can be a programmer :- ) 2.Knowledge discovery in data Participants will learn how to use KNIME Analytics Platform, especially in data mining (DM) and machine learning (ML) use cases that can be applied to administrative work. KNIME is an open-source platform with an intuitive GUI for discovering the potential hidden in the data.  During the course, we will learn how to load data, examine it, analyze and build prediction models. The usefulness of the platform has been recognized by the world’s leading research and advisory company Grater, which placed KNIME in the leader category in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms.

      We invite You warmly to Monday and Thursday evening events – as hosts we cover the expenses. All social meetings for willing, that follow scheduled events are not included in our expenses.
